Shirley Yvonne Bridges age 86 of Little Rock passed away peacefully at her home on January 4, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Bridges; her parents, Howard & Marion Russell; and brothers, Jack and Harold Russell.
Left behind to cherish her memories is her son, Gregg Burks; and brothers, Jerry and Frank (Sandie) Russell.
Shirley worked in civil service for 38 years. Her career began in 1963 with the Arkansas Air National Guard at the Little Rock Air Force Base, and later transferred to the Base Contracting Office. She worked her way up the ladder to be Head of Base Contracting before retirement.
In her spare time, Shirley loved to work in her flower beds and garden and Tole painting. She was an avid animal lover who loved to watch and feed the deer that would come into her backyard.
Shirley fought a long, hard battle with Alzheimer’s. In leu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer Foundation of Arkansas.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, January 12, 2025, 12:30 - 1:30 PM at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home. Shirley will be laid to rest after at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
