

Virginia Ann “Ginger” Smith, 61, died July 11 at her home in Little Rock after a long illness. Born August 2, 1953, Ginger was the eldest daughter of Margaret Ann Porbeck Smith and Clifton M. Smith.She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy in 1971, after which she attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She began her career as a fashion model working in Little Rock and Los Angeles. She later returned to Little Rock where she worked for many years in media advertising and marketing. Ginger had many wonderful friends and was passionate about her dog Gertie, one of several dachshunds she had over the years. She is survived by two sisters, Pat Tate and her husband, Byron Tate, of Pine Bluff, and Georgeann “Jan” Gresham and her husband, Pat Gresham, of Little Rock; a brother, Mike Smith of Collins; and three nephews, Matthew Gresham and Andrew Gresham, both of Little Rock, and Ethan Tate of New Orleans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church, with Msgr. John O'Donnell officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at the Columbarium at Holy Souls. Arrangements are by Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County. The family wishes to thank Ginger’s caregiver, Ewa Serafin, and Arkansas Hospice for their loving care.
