

Arnold H. “Skip” Zarra, age 84, passed away on June 1st, 2017, following complications from leukemia. Skip was born on April 17, 1933 to Samuel and Sylvia (Werksman) Zarra in Newark, New Jersey. He attended Manasquan High School, where he was football team Captain in his senior year. An avid Boy Scout, Skip earned the rank of Eagle Scout and went to a national Jamboree.
Skip attended Rutgers College of Agriculture, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. He then followed in the steps of his father and grandfather, working as a stone mason and bricklayer. Always an entrepreneur, he worked as a stock broker, and later, in the life insurance and real estate development industries. Skip collected antiques, a passion acquired from his mother, Sylvia, an antique dealer in Neptune, N J. He primarily collected glass, paperweights, and developed a substantial stamp collection. Skip was a very proud member of the Knights of Pythias lodge, where he was honored to be chosen as the Grand Marshall for the Memorial Day Parade in Livingston, NJ for several years.
Skip was married three times, divorced twice, and was widowed once. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Aloysius and Anna Zarra, maternal grandparents Benjamin & Catherine Werksman, parents, Samuel and Sylvia Zarra, and second wife, Esther. Skip is survived by his brother Michael (Lois) of Holmdel, N J; son Larry (Elizabeth) and grandchildren John and Leah, of Texas; daughter Sharon (Robert Fornuto), grandchildren Rebekka, Alexander and Zach, and great-grandchildren Gavin, Keegan, Donato and Paul, of Galloway NJ and Virginia; step-sons Avi (Susan), Zev, and Leon (Leslie) Lewinson, and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Services will be held at graveside on Sunday, June 4th at 1:00 pm at Mt. Lebanon cemetery in Iselin.
