Yes, it's a year late, but I just bumped into the obituary.  I was a Betari in NYC, umm, well, quite a while ago and still recall the events and leadership (and camp!) that Barry led.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

So sorry I took so long to do this. I only recently learned it existed. 
I was so sad to hear of Barry’s passing, then terribly frustrated that I couldn’t attend his funeral and pay my respects to you and your family, dear Sindy.     He was an amazing wonderful man, probably more than I realize.... A BEAUTIFUL MAN!!    I can’t think of much else to say, except that I wish you and your beautiful family comfort from friends and good health!

Barry was brilliant... But more than that,  he created a workplace  like none I've known, where his capacity for love, honesty, and fairness was adored.



It’s been 50 years since I saw him, but I have such memories of this big personality, the first real “Brooklyn-er” I met, and I certainly knew nothing about Betar. (Hell, I was this guy from USY who had no idea what Zionism was.)
Only time I remember him as subdued is when he returned from meeting Menachem Begin for the first time.
 I owe Barry something important – he taught me how to tell stories. Not newspaper stories, but life stories.
And, I suppose in some ways that did affect my journalism…if my writing ever has a distinct “voice,” I owe it to Barry because he showed me what a what a storytelling voice is.

Farewell Barry. Your humor and  presence will be much missed in the travel industry and beyond. Deepest condolences to the entire family.

Barry was a mensch. Generous, a philanthropist and a great family man.  Hope Big Blue wins a Super Bowl in Heaven.  Rest In Peace Godfather.  

Condolences to the family. A giant is gone way too soon. Will always remember the leadership Barry brought to Camp  Betar.   

In addition to being a travel industry icon, leader and mentor, Barry’s legacy is his beautiful family and his kind, caring and generous heart.
