Barton P. Marias

Barton P. Marias of South Orange, NJ died peacefully on March 23, 2025. Born in Newark, NJ on May 20, 1941, he was the son of Jack and Muriel Marias. The Marias family later moved to South Orange, NJ. He was a graduate of Weequahic High School and Rutgers University School of Business Administration, earning a Bachelor’s Degree of Science.. He served in the National Guard during the Vietnam war.

Loving marketing and sales, Barton was a proud partner in a family-owned business for over 20 years, Grandview Sales of Roselle Park. It was a true ‘Mom and Pop’ store! Because of their passion for business and engagement with people of all walks of life, Barton, his family and employees got to experience and enjoy true, personable relationships with their customers.

He proudly served on the Board of the Newstead Association as vice president for eight years. He also loved listening to Frank Sinatra and classical music, swimming at his pool, watching college and professional sports in addition to following the stock market. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.

Barton is survived by his loving wife Carol, proud father of daughter Jill, daughter Erica (Michael), son Douglas (Heather), adoring grandchildren Alexis, Nicholas, Tyler, Jake, and Josh, best friend and brother Jeffrey (Meryl), grateful uncle to Ian (Christina), and Lori, and blessed to be a great uncle to Mason, Josh and M.J.

He was honorable and he kept his word. He was unbelievably loved and will be deeply missed.

A graveside service for Barton will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025, 12:00 p.m. at B'nai Abraham Memorial Park, 2600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083. Following services, the gathering of family and friends will be held 1:30 p.m. at Newstead 609 West South Orange Avenue South Orange, NJ 07079 (4th Floor Community Room).

Shiva will be held on Friday, March 28th and Saturday, March 29th for family and friends starting 12:00 p.m. at the home of Jeff and Meryl.
