Billie was a talented and innovative early childhood teacher at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills, New Jersey for 30 years. Prior to that, she taught third grade in the Boston school system. She was born Billie Erlich in 1945 in West Orange, New Jersey, to parents Kathryn and Richard Ehrlich.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Arthur P. Fisch, children Lauren and David, daughter in-law Masha, and three grandchildren. To anyone whose life Billie touched, she provided enormous compassion, positivity, and a boundless sense of humor.
Billie died surrounded by her loving family. Donations can be made in her honor to The Center for Discovery, a major residential and research center for young adults with autism, and Keshet, an advocacy group for LGBTQ equality in Jewish life.
