
Howard W. Golden, 87, of Short Hills, N.J., and Boca Raton, Fla., passed away on April 10, 2013. Funeral services were held yesterday at Temple B'nai Jeshurun, 1025 South Orange Ave., Short Hills. Born in Newark, N.J., Mr. Golden lived in Short Hills for 40 years. He was a partner in Golden Electric Co., Millburn, N.J. He was also active in many business associations. He served as president of Temple B'nai Jeshurun from 1976 to 1978 and as president of the board of trustees of the MetroWest Jewish News, now the New Jersey Jewish News, from 1988 to 1992. During his tenure at MetroWest Jewish News, the paper introduced major changes, including desktop publishing, and received more journalism prizes than at any time since its founding in 1946. Mr. Golden attributed this success to "a dedicated, enthusiastic editorial staff" and a resourceful advertising staff. Mr. Golden was an avid bridge and tennis player and was a member of Greenbrook Country Club and Delaire Country Club in Boca Raton. He was the beloved husband of Louise; devoted father of Nancy Bernstein and her husband, Dr. Guy Bernstein; Andrew Golden and his wife, Vickie; dear brother of Alan Golden and his wife, Beverly, and adored grandfather of Amanda, Benjamin, Molly, Jeffrey and Carly.
