Irwin, known as "Ike" to his friends, was born on July 4, 1942, in Somerville, NJ. He worked until retirement for the NJ Turnpike and later pursued his passion for antiques, owning Ike’s Antiques, where he delighted in sharing stories with customers.
Above all, Irwin cherished his family. With his devoted wife Lois of 56 years, he raised their 2 daughters in Nutley and enjoyed retirement in Hackettstown before relocating to Berkeley Heights to be closer to their grandchildren.
Despite facing health challenges, including two strokes and cancer, Irwin remained resilient. He enjoyed family dinners, puzzles, poker nights, and taking a chance on scratch off tickets. As an avid sports fan, he would do his best to never miss watching a Yankees or Giants game on TV. He was also always eager to share a story from back in the day.
Survived by his loving wife Lois, daughters Susan Pellnitz (husband Michael) and Julie DeFeo (husband Joe), and grandchildren Joey and Emma DeFeo, Irwin's memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
A funeral service for Irwin will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, New Jersey 07039. Following the funeral service will be a burial at 12:45 PM at Riverside Cemetery, 12 Market Street, Saddle Brook, New Jersey 07663.
