

Irwin Wishnow was born on December 14th, 1931 into a farming family in Bridgewater, New Jersey. He was the beloved husband of Eileen, father of Kim Wishnow-Per (Steve), Diane Inserra, and David Wishnow (Sue), and grandfather to Matthew Per (Salwa), Samara Per, Jake Inserra, Jonah Inserra, Jared Wishnow (Emily), and Emma Wishnow. He graduated from Rutgers University before founding Rockland Homes in Succasunna, New Jersey. He was a member of Morris County Board of Realtors and, as an active member of the Randolph Rotary Club, was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a devoted member of Temple Sholom in Bridgewater and served as a past president of the Cemetery Committee.
He embarked on a second career as an appraiser and became a member of the New Jersey Appraiser Association. He also did land development in Bridgewater, resulting in the creation of 40 new homes and the development of Wishnow Way, which was named after his family, who had lived in Bridgewater since the early 1900s. After retiring in 2008, Irwin moved to Florida with Eileen, where he honed his golf and tennis skills as an active member of Indian Spring Country Club. He was an avid sportsman his whole life. He loved taking ski trips with his family, climbed Mount Washington, and was a diehard fan of the New York Giants.
Irwin and Eileen returned to New Jersey in 2023 and were overjoyed to be closer to their family. Irwin passed away peacefully this past Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 9 at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel at 68 Old Short Hills Road in Livingston. Burial will follow at Temple Sholom Cemetery in Bridgewater. To share a memory, go to www.bernheimapterkreitzman.com.
