Janice Roth Sherman, daughter of Bernard and Byrdine Roth, died peacefully in her sleep on December 9, 2018, at the age of 88. A native of New Jersey, Jan was born in Newark and raised in Maplewood. She was a longtime resident of Livingston, and most recently of Florham Park.
Jan took great pride in her family. She was a wonderful host, with her home serving as the gathering place for many family holidays over the years.
She enjoyed sailing with her husband Len on Long Island Sound, spending many family weekends on “Sail la Vie.” Jan and Len also enjoyed world travel, visiting five continents over the years.
Jan is survived by her children, Robert Sherman (Carolyn) and Debra Sherman Parker (Geoffrey); her five grandchildren, David (Alena), Steven (Emily), and Michael Sherman, and Benjamin and Elizabeth Parker; her great-granddaughter Abigail; and her nieces, nephews, and friends. Jan was pre-deceased by Leonard Sherman, her husband of 65 years, and her sister, Margery Roth Aronson. She is deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation.
