

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Les moved to Queens, NY, Graduated from Brooklyn Poly Technic Institute He briefly served with the US Air force during the Korean War. Les has lived in Livingston since 1964.
As a physicist, Les spent many years working with Bendix Aviation Corporation in Teterboro where he worked on special projects including with the design of the Lunar landing module (LEM) for the Apollo program. He also worked with Cessna and later the ITT Corporation in Nutley.
Les had four main passions: Science, Family, Frank Sinatra (along with big bands) and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He had a long-time passion for coaching little league baseball, which spans from before having his own children in Queens and continued in Livingston after his children finished playing.
Les was locally active with the Livingston Library, giving lectures, teaching chess and teaching English as a second language. He took the internally broadcast Livingston High School TV station and brought it to regular broadcast TV on channel 34.
A volunteer at St. Barnabas Hospital, Les was known as “Mr. Bingo” not only for calling Bingo but broadcasting it throughout the hospital TV system bringing cheer to many bed-bound patients. He was also part of the “Listening to Children” program at the Collins Elementary School and mentored a young bright student through Junior High School.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Paula (Katzman); children: Lynn Davidson; Honey and her husband David Barry; Harris and his wife Diane and Ronald and his wife Iwona ; grandchildren: Laura, Steven, Matthew, Michael and Stefanie. Also surviving is les' brother, Louis, his wife Mary and son David.
