Martin Glassman passed away suddenly from natural causes on October 21, 2021 at the age of 89. He grew up in the Bronx, NY, was a decorated Korean War Veteran, and worked ~35 years at the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1997 as a supervisor. He was also a proud, lifelong Democrat, even sending in his absentee ballot a week before his death.
His life changed for the better in 1958 when he met his soulmate and boss Muriel at Al's Diner in New Haven, CT. They were never apart for 61 years, mostly in their homes in West Haven, CT, till his beloved passed away, leaving him a much sadder and emptier man. What kept him going over the past few years was the love and pride he had for his children, Amy {and son in law Michael) Brachfeld and Robert Glassman, and grandchildren Spencer and Jeremy Glassman and Emily and Allison Brachfeld. Marty, or "Motel" as he was affectionately known, preferred the simple things in life--tasty food in large amounts, the news (usually CNN or MSNBC), the NY Times, detective/cop shows especially Mannix and Blue Blood, old time entertainment from Sinatra to Phil Silvers, and, most of all, time with family. He is hopefully reunited with his "Malka," watching TV, eating Jewish food, talking about their grandchildren, all the while holding hands.
Contributions in Martin's memory may be made to Chabad at Short Hills, 650 South Orange Avenue, Short Hills, New Jersey 07078.
