Michael Evan Cohen, cherished husband, father, son, brother, friend, and mentor, passed away on June 6th enveloped by family and lifelong companions. Born in Long Island, NY, and lovingly raised in Boca Raton, FL, by his devoted mother Joni and stepfather Tom Rosenfield.
During his youth, he interned at the National Hurricane Center, an experience that sparked his passion for meteorology and led him to Penn State. There, his life long love for his Alma Maters football team began and he discovered his exceptional abilities in Finance.
It was at Penn State where Michael met Joanna (Joey), his soul mate, with whom he would build a remarkable life. After graduation, the couple moved to New York City, where Michael embarked on a distinguished career as an Equity Derivatives Sales Trader, most recently at United First Partners. His dedication and brilliance, akin to that of a true savant, propelled him from the trading floors to the upper echelons of the finance world that he so deeply respected.
Michael and Joey later started their family and cultivated a community in Hoboken, NJ, nurturing their three children: Myles Gray (9), Ella Neve (6), and Asher Beau (2). His wife and children were his world, and nothing brought him more joy than witnessing Myles score a layup, watching Ella perfect a handstand, or laughing at Asher's morning antics.
He loved nothing more than watching sports every night with his son, sitting on his Margate porch smoking a cigar, running by the beach in Boca and spending quality time with the friends he held so dear.
Michael will forever be remembered for his exceptional intellect, infectious sense of humor, incredible laugh, boundless compassion, and unwavering devotion to his family. Michael is survived by his parents Joni and Tom, beloved wife Joey, their children Myles, Ella, Asher, his brother Jeffrey (Kelly), step-siblings Lauren (Dan) and Ali (Mike), in-laws Carol, Jack, and Ali (Max), and five nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving family, Michael leaves behind a countless circle of loyal friends from all phases of his life, whom he considered family, and his adored 13-year-old Labradoodle, Coco.
Words cannot convey the profound sense of loss felt by all who knew him. Michael will be deeply and sorely missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
