I met Michael in 7th grade and he was friendly with everyone from the beginning. He was kind and always tried to be helpful to  his classmates. . As we all grew up and became adults, he worked at the family store and everyone who got engaged or married, or had a celebration went to Oxenhorns to get their prize. Michael was always happy to see each one of us and always talked about the 'old days. He had a great memory for things that happened (good and bad) to our classmates. It was always fun to go to the store even if we just wanted to say hi. He was always kind, fun and generous. He will be missed but with good memories. 
Deena, I am so sorry for your loss. You had a wonderful husband who was caring and loving.

My husband Howard and I were saddened to learn of Michael's passing. Both of our families have ties to the Oksenhorn family. Deades ago, my great-aunt Fanny Pollack used to do pearl stringing for you. My mother, Sally Greenhouse, was a constant customer. Michael's professor of accounting at Seton Hall was my father-in-law, Charles Weiss. When my husband and I got engaged, the only place we would even consider buying my ring was from your store. My brother-in-law, as well, purchased his wife's engagement ring from you. Over the course of decades, I had several stones reset by your jewelers and had all my jewelry repairs done by you. Michael was absolutely the only person I would trust when diamonds were involved. He was just that kind of guy who instilled that level of trust, and I felt his prices were always fair.  He was such a kind person; he always inquired about my family and my husband's family. May he rest in peace, and may happy memories of him sustain you during these difficult times.

We were  sorry to learn of Michael's passing .  We were not aware otherwise we would had attended.  Our heartfelt condolences to your family.  We feel such a loss since we knew him for 40 years.  He always treated us so kindly and generously.  As his customer and later his physician,  I was privileged to help him as well.  It is rare in my practice to know such a fine man. We met Michael over 40 years ago while visiting our dear friends Frann & Eric, and found that part of their weekend routine was to visit Michael & Deena at the store sometime each Saturday. We became part of that routine each time we spent the weekend in NJ, and quickly became part of Michael & Deena's "extended family". 
Eric assured me that I could trust Michael and from that point on I bought every piece of jewelry for Ann's birthday, anniversary or any other occasion from Michael. Eric was correct. Michael was an extraordinary person, caring, trustworthy, and fun to be around. We loved "schmoozing" during those visits to the store as well as seeing Mike and Deena at Francis Family functions and occasionally dinners. Each time we spoke time was reserved for hearing about the topic of his greatest interest: Family. He loved each and every one of them dearly and they returned the sentiment. He was a true Mensch in every way and we will miss him and know that his memory will always be a blessing.

Death of a loved one is a very sad event.   When that person is loved by many because he or she was a very special person - the sadness is truly heartbreaking. Michael was such a person. He was the most caring  human being I have known. He was the first person to call me on my birthday. He genuinely loved to hear about each of my children. We were so saddened to learn of Michael’s passing. Besides being remembered  as our very favorite jeweler, he will always be remembered as a friend. I have to share our funniest memory of Michael. His car was in for service and the dealer had brought him a loaner car. He went out one evening and got into the car, and as soon as he started it he thought he was being robbed by a burglar in the back seat and started crying that he would give him his wallet if he wouldn’t hurt him.  Turns out that it was a new  type of seatbelt that automatically came across his chest when he started the car. We laugh and cry whenever we think of Michael telling us that story. So sorry to hear of your loss. Before we ever opened our shop in Millburn, Michael supported our collection in Oksenhorn. When others were not so welcoming in town Michael was kind and so encouraging. 
One day he went to the Garage across from us to get a hot dog lunch and stopped by to say hello. His warmth and kindness will never be forgotten. He said you kids did a great job here, it is a beautiful store and he wished us much success. We were overwhelmed. I saw him on the plane a couple of times back and forth from Florida always with a smile and a hello. We will always the remember the warmth of his heart.
