
Milton L. Fischgrund M.D., died peacefully in Pompton Plains, NJ on September 25, 2018. Born January 31, 1933 in Franklin, NJ. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1950. He spent the summer of 1952 working on the pipeline in Alaska. In June 1954, he graduated from Rutgers University. He was a member of the ZBT social fraternity, and still remains close with his brothers.
He obtained his doctorate from New York Medical College in May of 1958. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in the Medical Corps., July 1963. While in the service he was a medical escort for congressional committees traveling in Europe, serving as their private physician.
He was one of the original founders of Pediatric Medical Group, which served over 27,000 children in Elizabeth, NJ. During this time, he was on staff at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Union Hospital, and Elizabeth General.
He retired in 1997. He loved antique cars, owned a 1964 Silver Cloud Rolls Royce, along with a 1967 English Alvis that he spent hours washing and polishing. He also loved to golf and travel. Before and after retiring, he and his wife traveled the world from Russia to Africa and to all the National Parks.
Due to his lifelong empathetic nature, he has had three generations of patients keep in touch with him over the years. He was appreciated and loved by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sheila Arlene (nee Knoller) Fischgrund, and four children, Karen Fischgrund, David Kane (Wendy), Alisa Berkman (Michael), and Stacy Klein (Ron); 10 grandchildren: Sydney, Victoria, Cameron and Trevor Kane, Ilana and Sam Berkman, Clayton and Cassidy Greenzeig, and Simone and Ellis Klein.
He leaves his brother Marvin Fischgrund (Liesa), and his sister-in-law Jacqueline Koblenz (Sherwood).
