

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral services Wednesday, Aug. 9, 10:15am at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel at 68 Old Short Hills Rd, Livingston, NJ 07039.
Born in Queens, NY and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, Philip dreamed of becoming a Doctor. Dr. Philip Miller received a B.S. degree in Medical Sciences and an M.D. from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. After completing a mixed internal medicine internship at Kings County Hospital in New York, he then served a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the Affiliated Hospitals of the State University of New York. He was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1965. From 1965 to 1967 he served as a Captain and the Chief of Ophthalmology at the U.S. Army Hospital, Augsburg, Germany. He then returned to the U.S. to begin his practice as an eye surgeon in South Orange, NJ. In addition to his practice, He also served as an attending at Saint Barnabas Medical Center for over 50 years. Dr. Philip Miller was a partner with his son Dr. Kenneth Miller in Miller Ophthalmology Associates for over 20 years.
He loved music and baseball and was a long suffering avid fan of the Chicago Cubs (enjoying last years World Series win immensely). He also loved the Chicago Bears. A passionate golfer and skier, he and his wife Honey played golf courses and skied all over the world and he was a long time member of Crestmont Country Club in West Orange.
Dr. Philip Miller married the love of his life and best friend, Honey Miller and they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past June. He was a true gentleman and a loving father to his son Dr. Kenneth Miller and fiancé Kerry Marcus and his daughter, Jacqueline Miller and husband Thomas Storey. He was beloved by his 7 Grandchildren, Meghan, Jillian, Robby, Thomas and his wife Ashley, James, Blake and CJ. Also, surviving is his loving Sister-In-Law Mary Blakslee Miller and his nieces Allyce and Paige Miller. He was predeceased by his parents Jean and Harold Miller and his brother Dr. Stuart Miller. He will be missed by his family and many wonderful lifelong friends.
