Phyllis Levine, 94, of Bridgewater, NJ formerly of Sunrise, FL and Brooklyn, NY passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Sidney Levine, loving mother of Irwin (Leslie) Levine and Roberta (Pete) Zawasky, cherished grandmother of Peter (Heidi) Levine, David (Erica) Levine, Stacie (Rob) Perdue, and Jonathan (Lori) Vernick, and adored great-grandmother of Jake, Max, Luca, Lila, Dylan, Ryan, Hunter, Sydney, Charlotte, and Zoey.
Phyllis and Sidney were married in 1944, and spent 63 inseparable years together. Their loving relationship was one that most people wish for, and is a role model for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Phyllis worked for the Brooklyn Public Library and managed several different library branches throughout her 20 year career. Once she retired, they moved to Florida to enjoy the warmth, spending 30 years there loving their life, making great friendships, and being active in many different volunteer organizations.
When Phyllis lost the love of her life in 2007, she left Florida and moved to NJ to be closer to her family. She has spent the last 10 years enjoying watching her great-grandchildren grow. Tatoo, as she is called by all of her great-grandchildren, was loved ‘a million billion up to the sky', as she told them whenever she was with them.
We will all miss her terribly, but know that she and our Dad/Grandfather/Great-Grandfather are dancing together in heaven, and watching over all of us, finally at peace.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Bernheim, Apter Kreitzman in Livingston NJ at 10:15am. The family will be in the receiving room at 9:30am Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Glendale NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Altzheimer's Association (which was near and dear to Phyllis because of her Mom (Grandma Sara)), or to your favorite charity.
