Phyllis R. Sherman

Phyllis Roberta Sherman, 82, passed away on February 4, 2025. She was born in the Bronx to Bea and Hal Altman. Phyllis was married to Elliott, the love of her life, for over sixty years. Phyllis graduated from Hunter College and taught nursery and elementary school. In her earlier years, Phyllis loved to dance and play tennis. Phyllis was a voracious reader, an avid shopper, and had a great eye for decorating.

She lovingly raised three children - Stephanie, Andrew, and Matthew - in New City, New York. As a family, they enjoyed boating, skiing, Broadway theater, and trips to the Berkshires, Disney World, Israel, and the Caribbean. She loved celebrating holidays with the entire family including her loving son-in-law Andrew (Falk) and her daughters-in-law Wendy and Julie. Phyllis and Elliott traveled the world together and loved their community of friends in Florida. They were soulmates and lived an adventurous and fun-filled life together.

Her greatest joy came from her eight grandchildren - Zach, Gabi, Lily, Ben, Allie, Skylar, Sadie, and Sylvie. She loved to bake for them, attend their performances, celebrate special occasions, and kvell over their many accomplishments.

Her friends and family loved her and will miss her. May her memory be a blessing.

A graveside service for Phyllis will be held Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652.
