

Richard J. Schlenger, Age 87, of Palm Beach, FL and Livingston, NJ passed away peacefully at home with his family on March 24. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela of nearly 60 years, his brothers Bennett and Robert, his 3 children, Peggy Callander (Larry), William and David, and 7 beloved grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman, Livingston, NJ on Monday March 27 at 12 noon. Interment will be at B’nai Abraham Cemetery, Union, NJ. The family will observe Shiva at their home after services on Monday and Tuesday from 1-4 and 7-9pm.
After attending Syracuse University he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After returning home he joined the family business, R & S Auto Stores. He later purchased Kaltman-Boise and pursued a career in commercial real estate. He served on the board of many local charities and received the Julius Cohn Award from UJA Federation in 1961. He was member of Mountain Ridge CC for over 70 years. He was devoted to his family, friends and community and will be missed tremendously by all. In the lieu of flowers the family request contributions be sent to Mt Sinai Beth Israel Health System for the Peter Krueger Clinic, or Planned Parenthood of So., East and No. Florida , or the charity of your choice.
