

Born in Poland, Rina moved in her youth to Israel. She served as a Courier transmitting vital information during Israel’s War of Independence. She also was an announcer on the young radio station, Kol Yisrael. After beginning at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, she continued her studies at Queens College and The New School for Social Research in New York. She also pursued a Master’s Degree in Educational Philosophy at the Jewish Theological Seminary, which she innovated and integrated into her teaching. Rina met her future husband Ronald at the summer camp Massad, a noted Zionist Hebrew speaking camp in the Poconos.
She continued various careers as a wife and homemaker and also as a Hebrew School teacher. She taught at notable schools in Brooklyn and Philadelphia, and for thirty years at Congregation Oheb Shalom in South Orange. She was a gourmet cook drawing on an extensive library of cookbooks and a fashionable dresser who spoke French and followed French couture. She was eighty six years old. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, her brother Natan, her son Adam Elan and daughter Orna Jacqueline and their spouses, Lori-Ann and Shmulik Kliger, and five grandchildren, Gili, Zachey, Maya, Danielle, and Lee.
