Robert is survived by his wife of 67 years Marian, his daughter Cynthia and her husband Lance Jackson and granddaughter Tara, his son Stephen and wife JacLynn and grandchildren Lauren and Zachary, his daughter Susan and her husband Patrick Duffy and granddaughters Lindsey and Alicia.
The most important thing to Robert was his wife and caring for his three children and all the special times with his grandchildren. As often as possible, he enjoyed doing activities such as fishing, ice skating, vacationing, and golfing with everyone. He was a skilled saxophonist and piano player.
He was one of the oldest members at Mountain Ridge Country Club where as a young man he considered being a professional golfer but made a more responsible decision. However, his passion for playing golf lasted until he was 92, but his obsession to watch golf continued to the end.
Robert graduated Columbia High School and then completed his degree at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He then joined the Army as was selected to join the group of decoders responsible for breaking the German Enigma Code. Upon returning from the Army he went to NYU Law School and became an attorney.
Instead of pursuing his law career he decided to join his father-in-law’s business Ballmill Lumber and Sales Corporation for 62 years until his retirement.
