Robert was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Benjamin and Elsie Scheingold and grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and Union, New Jersey. He then spent the last 60 years as a resident of South Orange.
Robert loved going out to dinner with friends and family and spending time with them. His greatest joy was having his children and grandchildren over to celebrate holidays and special occasions together. Among his favorite pastimes were watching the Yankees and Giants, which he did religiously, and phoning friends and family to make sure that they were healthy and happy and to let them know that he was always thinking of them. He loved dogs, including his current rescue dog, Missy.
He was a past member of Congregation Oheb Shalom in South Orange.
Robert was the beloved husband of Esther for 60 years, loving father of Bruce Scott (Nancy Bernhaut), Mark Scott (Dana), and Lisa Infantes (Robert), and devoted grandfather of Brandon Infantes (Amber), Nicole Infantes, Joshua Scott, and Amanda Scott.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 1 PM at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane, Iselin, NJ 08830.
Donations in his memory may be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, New Jersey.
