Sheila died while vacationing in Portugal and is survived by son David Meyer and daughter-in-law Beth, daughter Jennifer Krauss and son-in-law Jason, sister Jane Bulman and brother-in-law Jeff, stepdaughter Leslie Zaslower and stepson Jay Zaslower, and grandchildren, Ben, Nate, Ella and Max.
Sheila grew up in Brooklyn and Deal, New Jersey. She received her bachelor’s degree from Boston University and a master’s in social work from Columbia University. She worked in social work and then ran a successful office furniture company with her late husband Philip Zaslower.
Sheila’s life ended the way she lived it, with a sense of adventure and spirit. She was often on the go and rarely stopped moving, up until her final days, and loved traveling, cooking and the arts. She was an avid reader, ardent bridge player, enthusiastic art collector, museum, and theatre goer. She loved volunteering as an ESL companion to foreigners, in a local soup kitchen, and for an organization that helped girls with Cerebral Palsy learn how to dance. Sheila was passionate about her Jewish identity. She took advantage of so much New York City has to offer, and enjoyed her summers in Sag Harbor where she had many friends.
