
Steve was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and was a graduate of Ohio University where he met the love of his life, Myra, and later studied at Brooklyn Law School.
He was a dedicated, talented and successful attorney, mastering his skills in litigation and land use. In 1980, his love of politics led him to a four year stent as councilman, deputy mayor, and mayor of Livingston where he raised his family. Steve continued to be involved in the community by assisting his friends and neighbors with approvals for their properties and businesses.
Steve was a former long time member of Crestmont Country Club where he enjoyed golfing with his friends and family. His love for the sport continued once in Florida at Hunters Run.
He was a loving son to the late Freda and Max Geffner, devoted husband to the late Myra Geffner, and loving father to his daughter Marcy and the late Jeffery Geffner. His greatest joy were his four grandchildren, Carly, Ross, Alec, and Jaimie. He was a caring brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to so many.
He will be remembered for his kind heart and infectious smile. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A funeral service for Stephen will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 beginning at 11 am at Chabad of Short Hills, 650 S Orange Avenue, Short Hills, NJ 07078. Following the funeral service will be a burial at Beth Israel Cemetery, 19 Ridgedale Avenue, Cedar Knolls NJ 07927.
