Steve is survived by his wife of 41 years, Anne; his three children, Sue Sudbay (David), Jeffery Yarvis (Laura), and Joel Yarvis; two stepsons, William Snyder and Robert Snyder (Amanda); and six grandchildren, Rocky, Julia, Jacob, Olivia, Sophie and Graeme.
Steve was born in Brooklyn on June 9, 1937, to Dr. Jacob and Sylvia Yarvis. After earning his undergraduate degree from Hobart College, he served his country as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. Steve later earned his MBA from New York University and launched a successful career as an executive in sales and marketing for consumer products. His career included positions at PepsiCo, Warner Lambert, Mennen, Colgate, and Revlon. He also taught masters-level strategic marketing for the graduate business program at Farleigh Dickinson University.
Steve was an avid boater, accomplished pianist, and a lover of classical music and jazz. He was very social and loved being with friends both in Randolph, NJ, and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, where he and Anne spent many winters.
Above all, Steve was a devoted and loving husband, father and friend. He and Anne enjoyed hosting countless celebrations with extended family. Steve was never too busy to lend an ear, provide advice, comfort his loved ones, and play with his grandchildren. He never failed to end a conversation without saying “I love you,” and the love his family felt for him is beyond words. He will be missed every single day.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dr. Martin Yarvis.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
