Steve was born on November 26, 1939 in Queens, NY to his parents Gus Gold and Rose Roth. He briefly attended USC but abandoned his studies to pursue his passion for golf. After caddying for the rich and famous in California, Steve returned to the East Coast and founded Bloomfield Drapery Company, Inc., a manufacturer and installer of stage curtains throughout New Jersey. It was at Bloomfield Drapery, that Steve met and married his wife of 30 years, Madeline Kannan Gold.
In addition to being a scratch golfer, Steve was one of the funniest men on the planet. His sense of humor was infectious and brought smiles and laughter to friends, family and perfect strangers. He loved hot soup, burnt chicken wings, and of course, his wife, children and grandchildren (not necessarily in that order).
Steve is survived by his wife, Mady, his children, Ken, Adam, Dan, Jen, Lisa and Will, and his grandchildren, Sammi, Ryan, Pete, Lily & Jake who will all miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ at 11am on Sunday, August 26th. In lieu of flowers or food, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are welcome.
