Steven Lynn Hyman (Steve), 75, of New York, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 20, 2019 after a long illness. He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 35 years, Victoria (née Peslak); his children Marc Hyman and Lisa Mann. His parents Fredrick and Mildred Hyman predeceased him.
Steve was born in Jersey City, NJ on April 21,1944. He attended the University of Toledo where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Math and Science. After college, Steve returned to Jersey City where he worked side-by-side with his father and mentor Fredrick, the founder of Grand Lumber. His hard work at his father’s lumber company helped launch and inspire Steve’s long successful career in Jersey City as a Business Owner, Real Estate Investor and Entrepreneur. Steve was an incredibly unique, dynamic, passionate and generous friend and colleague. He loved to travel the world, play blackjack and show his family and close friends all of the finer things life had to offer – he will be forever missed.
The funeral will be held at the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039 on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 10:00am with interment to follow at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane Iselin, NJ, 08830
Shiva will be observed on Sunday June 23rd and Monday June 24th from 4:00pm to 7:30pm at the home of Ava and Steve Schlesinger, 130 West 30th Street NY, NY. There will be a service each evening at 7:00pm.
