I met Susan when I moved to Little Falls and started 7th grade.
Our friendship started as we walked together to elementary  school and then high school,  Six years of walking up and down Long Hill Road in all sorts of weather......we had.many fun adventures along the way.
Susan made life long friends in high school.  We Jersey Girls still keep in touch as we enter our 80's.
Susan's natural ability to stay connected with people and be supportive was evident even as a young girl.
My many, many memories of Susan will always be in my heart.
Susan's kindness and love of life will be with me forever.

I know Amy has been in touch, but I just wanted to reach out myself and express my condolences and share my own thoughts.  

As you know, George and Louann welcomed me into the Shapiro family nearly 20 years ago and did so fully and completed.  I’ve been so fortunate to be thought of and treated as a son, truly from day one.  

But it has not just been George and Louann — it’s been the entire Shapiro extended family, including — of course — the Jacobsons.  I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your family always treating me like family.  

Susan always held a particularly special place.  Even before I ever met her, Amy and Louann spoke of her with such admiration, love, and respect, and in meeting her i instantly knew why.  Susan may have been small in stature, her presence and personality was so big, so warm, and so infectious.  I felt her love and devotion to family and community immediately and it was always crystal clear why the Shapiros always held her in such high esteem.  

As a parent now, I’m particularly mindful of how much it truly “takes a village” to raise children.  I know how much of a role Susan played in Amy’s life — there is perhaps nobody who was more impactful.  And we know there are many similarities— small but might, articulate and feisty, passionate and personable.  Susan played and outsized role in the community that raised Amy and she gets an A-plus for a job well done.  For that, I am eternally grateful.  

I know these last few months have been particularly trying, and I can only imagine the mix of emotions you are all dealing with now.  Susan was truly larger than life, and I feel fortunate to have known her and been part of her extended family.

Susan, aka, "Sue J." to our family or the "all-knowing" you will always be remembered for your strength, your humor, your perseverance, and your amazing wisdom.  Everything in our house was always, "ask Susan" whenever we were baking, or thinking about hosting a holiday, or anything.  She was decisive, stubborn, and her will to live a normal life allowed for her extraordinary life, but also for everything that she has left behind.  She was talented to the nth degree; I still remember her sewing my Halloween bunny costume :)

Whenever I did something that Ben would say, "is ridiculous, you just got out of the hospital and you just had surgery!"  I would retort, "Sue J. would do the same - there's no choice - if I didn't do things every time I had surgery or was sick or anything, I wouldn't do."  Susan was the epitome of the doer.  Nothing could stop her.  Nothing.  She passed away before passover, because she knew that she could not host and that would have killed her right then or to not be able to make or prepare for the festive holiday/seder.  She passed now so that others could move forward, rest, relax, and in her way pass on the hosting.  Yet, I know she is leading a seder somewhere, her recipes memorized.

Susan was so much to so many of us - beyond and gave us so much that will live on.

My condolences to you and your family… Susan has been a friend since we were 14 years old.. all who know Susan love her… we are all brokenhearted by her passing… we will miss her beautiful warm smile.. Susan left her Mark with our Sister group.. always gathering us together when one is in town, and welcoming us into to Mitch and her home and preparing a wonderful meal… 
( our group is scattered all over US). 
Those who know Susan will never forget her… she has left her mark..

Susan was my sister, the BIG sister. She was wise, corageous and compassionate.  We had 
Good and Hard times together. I loved her
very  much and will miss her and her spirit for life.

My name is Mark Bowen. I am friends with Ryan. I did not get the pleasure of meeting his mom  but I am confident that because Ryan is such a great friend Mrs Jacobsen must have been a great Mom. My condolences to the family. I will surely keep Ryan, his dad, and the entire family in my prayers.

I am deeply sorry to hear about Susans passing. I knew her for almost 40 years. We worked together for many years at Nesor Alloy and I remember when she started in our office.  She was in charge of everything.  I  traveled many times with Mitch and Susan to Europe for business meetings and trade shows.  The whole industry knew her and loved to see  her. Susan was very smart, talented, and genuine. Her love for people always shined through her. A smile, a warm hug, family talk, shop talk, and so many great memories at social events and gatherings. A great cook and baker, Susan loved to entertain in their home. I know how hard she fought and will be missed by all that knew her. May she rest in peace.
