
Theodore (Ted) Pearlman, 74, of Freehold, NJ, passed away on December 2, 2020. Ted was the son of the late Joseph Pearlman and the late Debra Schwartzman Pearlman. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Pearlman.
Ted was born in Brooklyn, NY, and resided in Newark and Union, NJ, before moving to Livingston, NJ, and raising his family there. He recently relocated to Freehold, NJ. Ted was educated at Rutgers University and UMDNJ, earning a Bachelor’s Degree and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) He married Debbie in 1971, and they loved each other for 49 years. Together, they raised three children, Jodie, Adam and Jessica. He welcomed his mother-in-law, Lillian Sesser (Nan) into their home where she lived with the family for 23 years. Ted was an ophthalmologist for over 40 years, caring for countless patients in his Denville-based private practice and was a founding member of the Ridgedale Surgery Center. He served as the president of the Pocono Park condo association and was a member of Temple B’nai Abraham Men’s Club
Ted loved spending time with his family more than anything, and together, they enjoyed going to Mets’ games, watching movies, and swimming in their backyard pool. He was an avid reader with a particular interest in history and relished his spirited conversations with his closest friends. Ted was also a spectacular photographer, expertly capturing a lifetime of family memories and a vast array of wildlife. He had a passion for sports cars, the latest tech gadgets and was an avid bowler. He cherished his annual vacations to Aruba where he reconnected with beloved friends every year. Ted was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Ted is survived by his loyal and loving wife, Debbie; his loving daughter Jodie Gunzberg, her husband Corey, and their children Lucas and Simon; his loving son Adam, his wife Emily, and their children Jordan, Brandon and Logan; and his loving daughter Jessica Messing, her husband Rob, and their children Haley and Daphne. He is also survived by his loving sisters Sondra Nagy and Naomi Yablonsky, his dear nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. Ted will be missed and is forever in our hearts.
