Barbara was the beloved wife of Robert Panek, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2016. Together they built a loving home centered on family, laughter, and strong values.
While raising her children in Dearborn Heights, Barbara was actively involved in their lives and activities, and helped wherever she was needed. Later, she returned to the workforce at Plastomer, where she worked for 30 years. She is fondly remembered as a hard worker and no-nonsense union rep. Lifelong friendships were made.
Barbara was proud of her German heritage and cherished the many reunions and family gatherings held throughout the years. Music, good food, and time spent with loved ones brought her great joy. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her generosity, and her caring spirit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert; her brother Joseph; her eldest sister Betty; and her dear granddaughter Anna.
Barbara’s legacy lives on through her loving family: her sister Joann; her children Kevin (Mary), Jacqueline (Frank), and Scot (Lisa); her cherished grandchildren Emily, Nick, Michael, Natalie, Jennifer (Chase), and Christopher; and her great-grandchildren Ayden, Andrew, Gabriel, Kennady, and Crew; her friend of 52 years, Patti Bora, and many beloved cousins and extended family members.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude or Angela Hospice. A memorial will be held to honor her at a later date.
