Born on April 2, 1934, in Gainesboro, Tennessee, Chuck was one of ten children born to William and Eliza Ragland. He spent his early years in Gainesboro before his family relocated to Michigan, where he graduated from Northeastern High School in Detroit. It was there that he met the love of his life, Shelby, at church. The two were married in a bond that would last 71 beautiful years.
Shortly after marrying, Chuck was drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1954 to 1956. Following his service, he began a long and successful career as a Cash Manager in the banking industry.
Chuck had a deep love for sports—especially golf and softball. For decades, he dedicated himself to coaching the church softball team, becoming a beloved mentor and friend to many. A man of unwavering faith, Chuck lived his values quietly but powerfully, showing kindness, strength, and integrity in every aspect of his life.
Above all, Chuck was a devoted family man. He was the loving husband of Shelby Ragland; the proud father of Jeffrey (Nora) Ragland and Scott (Vickie) Ragland; cherished grandfather of Jackie (Chris) Johnson, Bradford Ragland, Mark (Andrea) Ragland, Kayla (Justin) Slack, and Brennan Ragland; and beloved great-grandfather to Emerie Ragland, Carter Johnson, Hayes Ragland, Louis Johnson, and Andie Slack. He also leaves behind his dear sister Bobbie (Arlon) Chaffin and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, with a service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Chuck will be laid to rest on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at White Chapel Cemetery.
