Connie Bokuniewicz

Constance Elaine Bokuniewicz, lovingly known as Connie, was born on September 1, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, to her parents, Bernard and Ann Wendt. She passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at the age of 92.

Connie was the beloved wife of the late Chester Bokuniewicz, who preceded her in death in 2007. Together, they shared a lifetime of love after first meeting when Chester invited her on a bowling date. They were united in marriage in February of 1950 and built a beautiful life centered around family, hard work, and devotion.

She was a loving and dedicated mother to Darlene Mason (the late Timothy), the late Michael Bokuniewicz, Lee Ann Frey (Al), and Lynn Mellnick (Tom). Connie was a cherished grandmother to Kevin Mason (Kaitlin), Steven Mason (Dana), Kristen Schmitz (Bob), and Paige Pallaska (Gramos), and a proud great-grandmother to Keaton, Karson, Emma, John, Sloane, Gio, Niko, and Maks. She was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Kayla.

Connie was the dear sister of the late Bernard Wendt and sister-in-law of Cheryl Wendt.

A hardworking and determined woman, Connie and her husband owned and operated their Family Market party store in Dearborn Heights for many years, serving their community until 1985. Connie continued working well into her later years, not retiring until the age of 80, a testament to her strong work ethic and independent spirit.

She took great pride in her appearance, always dressing beautifully and ensuring her hair was perfectly styled. Connie found joy in tending to her yard and garden, which she kept in immaculate condition. She loved gathering with family, especially during the holidays, where she shared her talents as a wonderful cook. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing poker and visiting the casino, always bringing her lively spirit and sense of fun.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. (In State at 9:00 a.m.) at St. Aidan’s Catholic Church, 17500 Farmington Road, Livonia, Michigan. Connie will be laid to rest at St. Hedwig Cemetery
