

Diane was born on December 25, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Louis and Joan Garver.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Herman; her parents; her brother Richard (Susan) Garver; her sister Cathy (Tom) Mertz; and her brother-in-law Douglas Reschke.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Maryann (late Doug) Reschke, Carolyn (Garth) Cappy, Gerald (Julie) Garver, her sister-in-law, Susan, and brother-in-law Tom, as well as many extended family members and dear friends. Diane was a devoted and cherished Aunt to Jessica (Wade) Van Valkenburgh, Jason (Raquel) Reschke, Rachel (Olly) Risso‑Gill, Grant (Ellie) Cappy, Andrew Garver, Ava Garver, Ashley (Rafael) Bermeo, Joshua Garver, and Chloe Mertz, each of whom held a very special place in her heart.
She was known for her bright smile, infectious laugh, and playful sense of humor. Whether through a quick wit, a shared story, or a knowing glance, Diane had a way of connecting with others and bringing light to everyday moments.
Her professional life reflected her love of storytelling and media. A proud EMU graduate, Diane began her career working in television, later transitioning into media sales. Outside of work, she found joy in movies, television, reading, and spending time outside.
In retirement, Diane and Fred settled in Mesquite, Nevada, where she delighted in sunshine-filled days, scenic mountain views, and motorcycle rides that fed her sense of freedom and adventure. In the months leading up to her passing, Diane returned to Michigan, treasuring the opportunity to spend meaningful time with family and longtime friends, moments that brought her comfort, laughter, and peace.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, May 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 39020 Five Mile Road, Livonia, MI 48154. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Diane will be laid to rest at DeWitt City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Diane’s honor may be made to Detroit Public Television or to the Redford and Mesquite Public Libraries, organizations that reflect her lifelong love of media, storytelling, and learning.
Diane will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered—for her laughter, her kindness, and the way she loved and cared for her friends and family.
