Emma Bristow was born in Detroit on December 5, 1930. She grew up in Detroit and lived in an apartment above the bar her parents owned. She rode street cars, played in the alleys and hitchhiked to swim or ice skate. Shew was quite the outdoors girl. After high school she went to computer school and began her career. She met her best friend, Helen, and the two had many travels and adventures together. The Billings family moved to Livonia in the 1950's. Then Emma met Bob Bristow. They fell in love and were married in 1958. Their first home was in Dearborn Heights. They loved to travel and went to Hawaii, Spain, Africa, and took many cruises. They, too, moved to Livonia. Emma loved gardening and you could find her outside for hours taking care of her flowers. Emma also loved to shop, always looking for the perfect item. In her later years she and Helen discovered the casino, enjoying many hours at Motor City. Emma had the most amazing neighbors. They always looked after her.
Emma is survived by her brother, Carl and his wife Susan and with many nieces and nephews. She will be missed!
