Dear Fasano family – I was so very sorry to learn about the passing of Emory.  May the grace of God provide you with comfort and strength during this very difficult time.

I finally had the pleasure of meeting Emory and Cindy while on vacation in Ohio and Kentucky in the summer of 2011 with my girlfriend, Lorraine Ryan.  It was also during that visit that I met Ginger and her family who were visiting on their way back home to Tennessee.  We enjoyed a terrific home cooked meal that evening. Emory, Ginger and Lorraine exchanged several Fasano stories at the dinner table.  There were a lot of good stories followed by lots of laughter.  

After dinner, we all retreated to Emory's home theater to watch a Stanley Cup final game on a HDTV projection system movie screen.  After the game, Emory brought us into his den and showed us his personal photographs and mementos from his days as an usher at Tiger Stadium.  There were also good stories of Emory's dad.  Lastly, we talked Red Wings hockey as well (old school hockey at the Olympia, not the Joe).

I was very impressed to hear all about Emory's industrious work ethic and how he rose through the ranks at Kroger over the years (as told by his proud cousin, Lorraine Ryan).  He was equally (and more importantly) blessed with enjoying a terrific family life.

Emory will always live on in the collective memories and stories expressed by family and friends.  May his wife, Cindy and his sons, Michael and David take solace and pride in the fact that so many people were touched by the way Emory went about living his life.  It was an honor to have known him.

I have many great memories with the Fasanos. I remember many fun times with the Fasanos and remember Emory as "big brother" of the family. I was sadened to hear of Emory's passing. My prayers are with Emory's entire family.

Dear Cindy & children and Emory's family -- so shocked to hear this very sad, sad news.  I know we haven't seen each other for a long while, but have the best memories of times spent together.  I went to prom with Emory&Sharon Fairbanks and him being the best man at mine & Greg's wedding in 1974.  Going to Tiger stadium and seeing Emory & Greg ushering along with Emory's dad.  Going to the Fasano's in Dearborn-just loved the whole family.  Spending time with you two when you first got married and then when you had your first baby.  Emory and Greg playing baseball and the infamous fight when they took Emory's crutches and used them as weapons against our team--long time ago, but lasting memories. Take care of yourself. To Fasano family:  I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.  I grew up with Emory in Inkster.  I remember our elementry days at St. Aloysius grade school and the summer days of playing baseball.  In our early teens we spent our summers working at Tiger Stadium as young ushers,  riding the bus down Michigan ave to games at TIger Stadium and riding home with his Dad, Emory Sr.  There are many more childhood memories that I will recall today as I think of Emory passing.  My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.  May God bless you all.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

I was sorry to hear about Emory's passing. It's been many years (1992) since I've seen Emory, but have heard of his great career with the Kroger Company. Emory and I worked together for 14 years at Michigan Dairy and had alot of fun during that time. Emory was very respected  and my life was enriched in knowing Emory. God Bless all of you, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
