Eric C. Haupt, age 86, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025. Born on June 28, 1939, in Detroit to his parents Erich and Erna, Eric lived a life centered on faith, family, and the outdoors.
Eric graduated from Cody High School in Detroit, where his life’s journey began to take shape. On a blind date arranged by church friends, he met the love of his life Nadyne. Together they built a beautiful life and raised their family in Livonia MI.
Beloved husband of Nadyne for 65 wonderful years, Eric was the loving father of Eric (Shelby), James (Tracy), Gregary (Julie), Carol (Robert) LaDuke, and Jennifer (James) Schneider. He was the cherished grandfather of Cassandra (Tristan), Kimberly (Brock), Kelsey (Matthew), Cole, Pamela, Amanda (Christopher), Donovan (Christine), Brian (Ashley), Brielle, Grace (Nicholas), Rylie (Matthew), Suzanne (Jacob), Colette, Rebecca, and Nolan, and the proud great-grandfather of Gavin, Adaline, Ambrose, Heath, Roy, Brooks, Evelyn, Theodore, Peyton, Marie, and Zellie. He was also a dear uncle of many and is preceded in death by his sister, Erlene Ashburn.
He enjoyed a long and dedicated career as a Telephone Installer with Michigan Bell/AT&T. Eric’s faith remained a guiding force throughout his life as he was an active member of All Saints Lutheran, Faith Lutheran and, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livonia. He gave his time generously as both a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, influencing many young lives. An avid outdoorsman, Eric loved hunting, fishing, and anything connected to nature.
A visitation and funeral services will be held at Harry J Will Funeral Home in Livonia. Visitation will occur on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM (in state at 9:30 AM). Eric will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Cemetery following the service.
