
Florence May Hagen, aged 84, died peacefully on August 30, 2016 after her long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Florence was born May 10th, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of John and Ethel Turnbull.
Married for 46 years to William E. Hagen, they had six loving children. She devoted her time to being an incredible mother, mentor and loving confidant. She leaves behind son Michael and twin daughters Jenifer and Juliette. Her husband, Bill, son Steven, daughter Kimberly and son Scott precede her in death.
Family was Florence’s passion and delight. She grew up the eldest of seven. She is survived by her sister Jacqueline Londo (Gary). She was preceded in death by brothers Henry Turnbull and Kenneth Turnbull (Geri) as well as sisters Marjorie Byers (Charlie), Norma McDonnell and Rosalie Stoner (Rick). She loved to host and entertain and would never let anyone leave without enjoying a story or two and a good cup of tea.
Grandmother to Robert, Steven Jr., Heather, Nicholas, William, Joshua, Jordan, Patrick and Jacob. Her Grandchildren were her heart and soul. She loved surprise visits and welcomed them with love and open arms.
She is survived by many beloved great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and singing, will never be forgotten. She always had a song in her heart. With a real zest for life, Florence loved to dance, write poetry and play games & cards. She enjoyed teaching Bible Study at Grace Lutheran Church, sewing and crafts, visits with friends and family, especially with her Grandchildren, and take pictures of all her travels and experiences.

Funeral will be officiated by Reverend Timothy Halboth at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, followed by prayer at Glen Eden Cemetery.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: Heart to Heart Hospice, the amazing team of caring individuals at Briar Hill Assisted Living, family and friends – either through prayer and/or visits, neighbors, and even random acts of kindness through total “strangers”.
