He was a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend. Fred was one of twelve children and spent all of his life in Southeast Michigan. Fred married Michelle on December 26, 1992 and they started their life in Dearborn, eventually moving to Northville in 1998.
He was a doting father who adored his three sons and spent a majority of his free time attending their sporting events of football, baseball, basketball, and hockey. Throughout their childhood, he enjoyed their company talking sports, brainstorming the latest idea for Shark Tank, and working on projects with them as they became adults.
He touched many lives with his genuine warmth and kindness towards others, always with a quick wit and gregarious laugh that lit up a room. Fred was often described as a calming presence, weathering highs and lows with ease and centering others around him. He also supported University of Michigan and local Detroit sports teams as an avid fan. Fred took pleasure in a beautiful day on the golf course, manicuring a tidy house and yard, playing euchre, and enjoying a cocktail with his friends and neighbors as often as possible.
Fred’s legacy is carried on by his devoted wife Michelle and his three cherished children; Kyle (Emma Skillman), Jake (Emily Martinbianco), and Luke (Emily Anderson). He is also survived by his mother Dorothy Skillman and his siblings Dave (Brenda) Skillman, Jack (Debra) Skillman, Judy (Ron) Price, Larry (Cindy) Skillman, JoAnn (Ray) Hall, MaryJo Skillman, Pat (Frank) Napolitano, Virginia (Dan) Hansvick, Mike Skillman, Karen (Steve) Ward, Barb (Kirk) Lawitzke, Mother In-Law: Patricia Dunn, Sister/Brother In-Laws; Lisa Mason, Mark (Kim) Dunn, and Laura (Richard) Wright and many nieces and nephews.
His genuine care for others will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
