Born on June 23, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, Genevieve was the daughter of Paul and Wanda (Uzarski) Sevy. She spent her early years in the city, where she would later meet the love of her life, Donald Charles Reed, while working at Greenfield's Restaurant next to the old Hudson Store. The two were married in 1947 and shared fifty-four cherished years together before Donald’s passing in 2001.
Genevieve was a homemaker through and through, known for her deep love and unwavering commitment to her family. She raised her children with compassion, strength, and loyalty, creating a home that was always welcoming. There was never a time when she wasn’t working on a project, a craft, a home improvement, or her perfect outside spaces.
Her cooking was the heart of countless family gatherings. She found joy in preparing meals that brought loved ones together. Passing down her special traditional recipes was important to her and her daughters. Genevieve poured her creativity into everything she did. She was also a social spirit, who deeply valued her friendships and always made time for those around her.
Genevieve is survived by her loving daughters: Constance (Tocki) Halatsis, Patricia Campbell, Donna (Larry) Ziem, Sandra (Richard) Peters, Shirley Reed (David), and Elizabeth (Andy) Czilok. She was the proud grandmother of fourteen grandchildren, great-grandmother to twenty, and great-great-grandmother of two.
