George Malis, beloved husband, father, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on April 11, 1932, to Anthony and Afrodite Malis, George lived a life rooted in service, love, and unwavering devotion to family.
A proud veteran, George honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following his military service, he began a lifelong journey with the love of his life, Annette. They were married on September 27, 1959, and together they shared 65 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
George was a man of quiet strength—calm, cool, and collected. He carried himself with grace and humility, always putting others before himself. He never met a stranger, extending kindness and warmth to everyone he encountered.
A man of many talents, George had a creative eye and was a masterful chef, well known for his delicious Greek dishes and refined palate. He also found joy in traveling, especially on tropical cruises, and took pride in cultivating his flower garden. But above all, George’s greatest joy was his family, whom he loved fiercely and unconditionally.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Annette; his loving children, Cynthia Malis and Craig Malis; and his cherished nephews, Anthony Malis and George M. Malis. George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Malis.
In honor of his memory and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church.
George’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory be eternal.
