

George lived a long and meaningful life defined by dedication to his family, pride in his work, and the lasting friendships he formed throughout the years. In 1949, he met the love of his life, Emma Mark, at a dance. What began as a chance meeting blossomed into a beautiful lifelong partnership. The couple married in 1951 and shared more than seven decades of love, laughter, and devotion together.
Before beginning his professional career, George proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946 during the closing period of World War II. During his service, he received the Meritorious Unit Commendation and the World War II Victory Medal in recognition of his unit’s service.
George went on to graduate from the University of Detroit, an accomplishment that helped launch the career he would later build with dedication and pride.
In 1952, George began his career as an engineer with Ford Motor Company. Through his hard work, commitment, and strong work ethic, he built a respected career there that spanned more than three decades before retiring in 1986.
Outside of work, George enjoyed many hobbies that brought him happiness. He was an avid golfer and spent many enjoyable years bowling in a bowling league, where the camaraderie and friendships meant a great deal to him. George was also an enthusiastic stamp collector and had a passion for photography, even creating his own darkroom so he could develop his photographs himself. He and Emma also shared a love of travel, creating treasured memories together on trips to China and throughout Europe.
Above all else, George cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose steady presence, kindness, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Emma Yee; his children, Craig (Suzanne) Yee and Wesley (Nancy) Yee; his grandchildren, Amanda (Christian) and Megan (Joey); and his great-grandchildren, Henry, Blake, Demi, Lulu, and Emma. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Elaine Yee, Erlinda Mark and Margaret Martin.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hom Shee Yee; his brother, David; and his sisters, Wilda, Helen, and Rose.
George will be remembered for his deep love of family and the many memories he created with those closest to him. His life was one well lived, and he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In accordance with George’s wishes, cremation will take place. No public memorial services are scheduled at this time. At a later date, George will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
