ONE OF MANY MEMORIES            Back around the year 1956 Harvey and a number of us kids in the neighborhood would get together and play baseball football in the field at Warwick where we lived and Fitzpatrick. As time went on Harvey was one of the few guys to receive their driver's license . This opened a new world for all of us. Fitzpatrick St. Between Warwick and a street called brace became Harvey's 1/4 mile Dragstrip. Harvey had a 1955 Chevy. 265 cu. in. V/8 he always tried to make go faster! Once the seasons changed to winner Harvey was kind enough to take his dad's 1957 Plymouth Station Wagon a group of us kids a toboggan over to Edward Hines Park and slide down garbage hill. After we got too old and couldn't do this anymore Harvey or myself would call each other and say. Put the toboggan on the 57 Plymouth and let's go! The last time this happened was ( with my eyes Full of Tears ) November 2022 when Buffalo NY. received 5ft. of snow. Harvey called me and said those words and we had a good laugh. Well Cuz, I'll never forget all the years we worked together and all the laughs you gave me.  There wasn't a day that went by that you didn't have me laughing about something!  And I remember many of them too so many years later.  I hate it that you're gone, but very happy for you because I know you're pain-free now.  Tell my mom and dad and your dad hi for me.  We'll all be together again soon!!  Love ya' cuz!!!

I apologize, this is long overdue. Today just seems to be a good day to share. 

For those that don’t know, this man Harvey Prysdale, his wife Shirley & Wayne changed my trajectory in life &  saved me when I was 16. 

Do to some unforeseen circumstances at the time & a long story, lol. At 16, (35 years ago) I was in a situation of really being homeless. Harvey, Shirley & Wayne Prysdale took me into their home to live, knowing nothing about me or my situation. I lived with Harvey, Shirley and Wayne for the last two years of High School until I went into the Navy. 

They, along with their extended family, accepted me as their own and treated me like part of their family. I was included in Birthdays, Holidays, family gatherings, acceptance and unconditional Love! 

I owe this man and his Family my heartfelt gratitude, and thanks for changing my life for the better!! I will Forever be grateful for You Harvey! Thank You! 

Harvey was a great neighbor of ours on Warwick Street in Detroit, I remember all the nice cars he had like most of the gang had in the neighborhood. It was very sad news when my brother Gary told me about his passing, may Harvey rest in peace.  

Harvey was cool the 1st day I meet him.  My earliest memory of the Prysdale family was riding my bike over to see Harvey laughing at Wayne and their dog max loading up the van with news papers.  Max (150 lb sheep dog) wanted to go inside the van and the van loaded with stacks of newspapers.  Wayne was yelling at the dog, Harvey was laughing and I introduced myself. 

Wayne was always in the garage tearing apart a mustang while I watched and handed him tool.  Harvey would always check on us to see what we were up to and give advice.  He always had a one liner and a laugh.   

The Prysdale welcomed me to live at their home no questions asked when I had no where to go.  During that time he was caring and kind and I will never forget the love given.  He would come home after work in his jump suit and old school lunch box.  

You will be missed but not forgotten

We call ourselves the Warwick Gang. Lol Harv is shown as the 2nd guy on the left.... Just a bunch of crazy kids who enjoyed Cars. I remember his 64 Ford - 406-405 he purchase from Mick Betagan. It was fast. We all spend a lot of time at Detroit Drag Way back in the 60s. Harv always had a smile and a zest for life. A great ball player and a good friend. Although,  we haven seen each other over the years you'll truthly be miss! RIP Harv and enjoy your love ones who have proceeded you..... BIG BOAT was one of his favorite expressions!


I remember Harv down the street, working on his van, rebuilding a 10 speed for the babysitter Mary, being a really nice guy to all the kids around little Wayne. He & Wayne called each other " pal" a lot. Wayne kept calling him Harv instead of Dad at age 3. Prayers sent to Wayne & Shirley. We will never forget you Harv!

I remember when we were young and we went the corner park where they had a ice skating rink… we both had our ice skates on and he made me go on it first… I had no problem.. we’ll when he got on it he fell thru it.. he got so mad at me he ran all the way home trying to catch me with our ice skates on…. We’re going to miss your jokes you sent me and Gary and the funny things you did… we are going to miss you terribly HP… your in heaven with our lord where you can walk and go fishing and to work on cars.. we’ll be seeing you soon! We miss you so much!
