

Helen "Poppy" Whitney was born on September 1, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, Gyro and Dina Popoff. Helen peacefully passed away on January 1, 2022 at age 93. Beloved wife of the late William Whitney. Loving mother of Brenda (Edward) Helsper, and Sandra (late Mitchell) Farnstrom. Cherished grandmother of Timothy (Holly) Helsper, Rachel (Randy) Ruble ,Tyler Farnstrom and Paige ( Brendan) O’Hara . Dearest great-grandmother of Conlan Ruble and Murphy Ruble. Helen is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation, Friday January 7, 2022 from 10:00am until time of service at 12:00pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Livonia. Helen will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Whitney family kindly requests masks be worn when attending the visitation and service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation in Helen's honor.
Helen spent 62 wonderful years with her husband William and together they raised their family in Livonia, Michigan. She was a loving mother and grandmother and the perfect role model for her family. William and Helen worked through life challenges together and really were the perfect example of how love conquers all. She was a successful manager of a credit union for many years and a talented crafter. Helen was also a longtime member of St. Clement Ohridski Eastern Orthodox Church in Dearborn. Helen could be described as a generous and wonderful woman. She will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.
