Jean grew up and met her husband Virgil in southwest Detroit, graduating from Western High School.
Jean and Virgil married and, after spending some 3 years building a house in Livonia, they moved their young family from Detroit to Livonia, to raise them. The family used every square inch of space for all sorts of imaginable fun, hosting of church functions, and missionaries on occasion. Often, it seems like more than half of the neighborhood lived at the DeMoss' house, due to their welcoming souls. The chocolate malts and triangular cut sandwich platters didn't hurt either.
Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and Lord of her life in her teens. VIrgil, her neighborhood 'friend' at the time, invited her to attend Temple Baptist Church in Detroit. She obliged and never looked back. After her salvation and giving her life to Jesus Christ, one by one, she brought as many of her siblings to church with her as would go. One of her passions was for all of her family members to accept Jesus into their hearts. One by one, at an early age or in adulthood, the mission of love was accomplished. Jean faithfully served in a couple of capacities at church. One, as the Victory Bible class secretary and two, as a volunteer in the young children's ministries. We all know how Jean just loves children. Matthew 19:14
Jean worked many a year at many jobs, starting in her young teens. But, most coveted of all, was being the secretary at Temple Christian School. Most coveted of all? Yes, because, you guessed it, the kid's she loved on.
To this day, nothing brightens her soul more than talking to her Lord and Savior and being with kids.
A memorial visitation will beheld on Saturday, January 15 at 10am, at Northridge Church in Plymouth.
With a celebration service at 11am.
