John William Harvey, 65, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Westland, Michigan, with his wife Le’Ann by his side. Born on February 18, 1960, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, John lived a life marked by faith, service, and dedication.
John began his career in sales—starting with small engine repair, then he acquired the milk brokerage from his grandfather, Thomas J. Harvey, Sr. John could never sit still, often having a second job either selling tires, refereeing high school soccer, or working as an electrician. He was known for his friendly nature and engaging conversations, he often shared stories about his beloved grandchildren.
To them, he was “Papa”—a title he wore with pride. Whether cheering from the sidelines at soccer games or making them laugh with his playful spirit, John cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren: Reagan, Jalen, Johnny, Skylar, Kaden, Riley, and Taylor.
Faith was the cornerstone of John's life. His devotion to God was evident in both word and deed. He brought energy to worship services with his heartfelt praise and strengthened the faith of those around him. Always ready to lend a hand, John volunteered on service projects and generously offered his electrical skills to help others.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Le’Ann; his son, Nathan (Jillian) Harvey; his daughter, Amanda (Gregory) Blanchette; and his seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nola and Thomas Harvey Jr., and his father-in-law Donald E. Ostrowski.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 24, 2026, with the service at 11:00 am and a luncheon to follow at 242 Community Church, 35475 Five Mile Rd. Livonia, MI 48154. John's family will receive visitors at the church on the 24th from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
May John’s memory bring peace to those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with purpose and grace. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name could be made to either Sleep in Heavenly Peace, or find a local mission that you support.
