John L. Scicluna

John L. Scicluna, 87, passed away suddenly May 25, 2019. He was born on October 31, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to John L. and Isabel (nee: Harrison) Scicluna. He earned an MBA from Michigan State University and spent his career with Ford Motor Company. There he worked for over 38 years and retired in 1989 as an Executive Purchasing Director. Mr. Scicluna answered his country’s call serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. In his time with family and friends, John enjoyed a good cigar, reading, an occasional casino visit and traveling to Florida. He met and married his nearby neighbor and love of his life, Theresa Miruzzi, on November 12, 1955. Together they raised their family of five children in Livonia. He loved getting together with his family more than anything, especially all the times spent at the pool at Balmoral Court, where the highlight of the afternoon was “treat time” for all the kids. He loved a good story, and no matter where he went he always found someone to talk to.

John is survived by his loving wife of 63+ years, Theresa. His love endures with his children, Mary (Jim) Romine, John Scicluna, Frank Scicluna, Caroline (Tim) Deacon and Jean (Darrell) Anderson. His two surviving sisters are, Esther Cook and Isabel (Tracy) Johnson. John’s grandchildren include: Paul, Alex, Sarah, Luke, Matt, Caileigh, Rachel, Maria, James and Abi. His great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Grace and Wilson lovingly called him “Nanu”. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Scicluna was predeceased by his parents, John & Isabel and his siblings, Emily Volino, Joseph Scicluna and Robert Scicluna.

Friends may visit Wednesday, May 29 from 3 – 8 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 West Six Mile Road, Livonia, MI 48152 with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. On Thursday friends and family may gather from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Interment will be at Glen Eden Cemetery immediately following mass.
