Joseph "Joe" Cooper, a cherished and vibrant spirit, left this world on August 3, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on July 31, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, to Jack and Dorothy Cooper, Joe's life was a testament to love, humor, and unyielding positivity.
Joe, the beloved husband of Amy for 20 wonderful years, was a devoted partner and best friend. His bond with his beloved fur baby, Calvin, a loyal service dog, was a source of joy and comfort. Joe was also deeply connected with Amy's family, being the cherished son-in-law of Sally and the late Mike Pettinger, and the supportive brother-in-law to Aileen Pettinger, Mike (Rebekah) Pettinger, and Sara (Rich) St. Laurent, and all of the Pettinger grandchildren, Danny, Jake, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Sam, Anna, Luke, Matt and Isaac.
Joe's family meant the world to him. He was the loved brother of Steve (Karen) Cooper and the late Father Daniel Cooper, whose memory he held dear. Joe’s legacy is also carried on by his beloved niece Kaitlin (Jack) Kelly and nephews Kyle (Kylie) Cooper and Connor Cooper and great-nephews and great-niece: Theo, Olivia, Grant and Ethan. He shared a special bond with his nieces, nephews, and great niece and nephews, who will fondly remember him for his unwavering support and enthusiastic presence in their lives.
For seven years, Uncle Harry Mueller was a steadfast source of support, visiting Joe daily and ensuring that Calvin received the care and love he needed. Joe’s gratitude for this unwavering companionship was boundless.
A devoted Detroit Tigers fan and a baseball fanatic, Joe's knowledge of the sport was rivaled only by his enthusiasm. His passion for all sports was evident, from his fantasy football victories to his extensive collection of baseball memorabilia. Joe not only loved sports but he also had a great appreciation for music, especially the Beatles.
Joe’s vibrant personality was complemented by his sharp sense of humor and his love for Seinfeld, a show he could quote with ease. His positivity shone brightly, even during challenging times, making him a beacon of light for those around him.
Joe’s legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unwavering support. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Joe, and thank you for the joy and love you brought into our lives.
