Joseph Mnich

Beloved husband of Carrie.

Son of the late Joseph and Irene Mnich. Dear brother of Michael and Brian, who he cared for deeply.

Brother-in-law of Jan Mnich, Mary and Greg Winokur, Barb Abdo, Debbie and Brian McAndrew, Suzan Abdo, and Rob and Amy Abdo.

Proud uncle to Jeff, Jen, Steve, Kate, Amy, Joe, Marty, Sam, Jaclyn, Riaz, Zack, Ben, and Ethan. Great uncle to Landon, Parker, Olivia, Griffin, Jacob, Lucas, and Max.

Joe had a great enthusiasm for life and he was loved by all. He was a true Spartan at heart and loved all sports. A Red Wings and Tiger season ticket holder for many years, he never missed a big game.

Everybody who knew him knew about his love for the Kentucky Derby. Joe started going to the Derby in 1977 and this tradition of going with his special friends lasted over 40 years and ended just this past May. He even had his own hand-picked spot in the infield.

Carrie was the love of his life. She was his guardian angel to the end. She helped him battle this horrible disease since 2007 and he fought hard to the very end. They truly enjoyed their time together. They traveled extensively and Joe converted her to love his teams, most notably the Spartans.

Joe had an incredible impact on so many people. He was the rock behind a group of college friends who he dubbed the "crazy 8's". This group of guys and now their wives remain very close still today.

I'm sure Joe will remain in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Special Olympics or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
