Margaret A. Carney

Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Ronald L. Carney, with whom she shared a beautiful life full of love and adventure until his passing on June 11, 2007. The two first met at a discount store called Uncle Bill’s, where their story began. They married in 1963 in Mentor, Ohio, and together raised a loving family of three daughters. Over the years, their lives took them to California, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Michigan before retiring to Tellico Village, Tennessee, where they filled their days dancing, golfing, and enjoying the company of close friends.

Margaret had an impeccable sense of style and a natural eye for beauty. She had a true knack for interior design, loved painting, and found joy in line dancing and time spent with family. After Ron’s passing, she returned to the Detroit area to be close to her dear friends, daughters, and grandchildren, who brought her endless comfort and happiness.

She was the loving mother of Jennifer (Tom) Bunyea, Janelle (Daniel) Culp, Julianne (Michael Weiss) Carney, Lonnie (Beverly) Carney, and Robin Carney. Proud grandmother of Joshua (Laura) Kutey, Michael (Alessia Giammarco) Weiss Jr., Morgan Culp, Evan Culp, Jordan Landen, Jacob Weiss, and Jonah Landen, and cherished great-grandmother of two. Dear sister of Rick Chase, John Myers, Jeff Myers, Jamie Myers, Joel Myers, and Justin Chase.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ronald; her parents, Patrick and Adele Hayes; her siblings, Patricia Mahoney and Gilbert Chase; and her stepparents, Jeanne and Paul Chase.

A Funeral In State will take place on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Drive, Northville, MI 48167, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Following the Mass, the family warmly invites everyone to join them for a luncheon at Mama Mia Livonia, 27770 Plymouth Rd, Livonia, MI 48150, to continue celebrating Margaret’s life and sharing memories together.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Almost Home Pet Rescue or Henry Ford Hospice, organizations close to Margaret’s heart.
