Michael Joseph Soave, known fondly as Mike, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on May 12, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, Mike lived a full and generous life, devoted to family, faith, service, and the simple joys that brought him happiness.
Mike proudly served in the United States Army Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1966. He went on to work for General Motors as an inspector, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Beyond his professional life, Mike was a man of many passions—especially harness racing, which he actively participated in for many years. He also found great joy in hunting, fishing, and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
A devoted family man, Mike was the beloved brother of Joseph and was preceded in death by his siblings Dominic, Henry, and Matilda D’Agostino. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, including Dominic’s children: the late Richard, Fran, Robert, Madlyn, James, and Janet; Matilda’s children: the late Alexander, Rosemary, Fred, and Louis; Henry’s children: Rita, Teresa, Patricia, and Donna; and Joseph’s children: Kevin, Christine, Karen, Catherine, Andrea, and Kimberly. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Mike had a warm and caring spirit, and he especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews—often treating them to lunches and dinners and creating fond memories that will be cherished forever. He was also a devoted son who lovingly cared for his parents in their home until their passing.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Mike’s life will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:30am (in state 9:30am) at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton, Michigan. A memorial luncheon will be held at Italian American Club 39200 Five Mile Rd. in Livonia following Mass.
Mike’s kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
